1. Loan kits of hazardous household products
The best way for students to identify hazardous household products is to show them real items. Each sturdy storage tub contains over thirty different products that have been emptied, cleaned and sealed. Use to teach label reading and safer alternatives.
2. Household Hazardous Waste games
Magnet Game - Players race a timer or each other as they search a large metal poster of with pictures of household products. Is that CAUTION, WARNING, DANGER or SAFER? They "win" after placing an identifying magnet on each photo.
Concentration - Players turn over game tiles and try to find a match. Graphics reinforce household hazardous waste concepts.
Puzzle - This oversized jigsaw puzzle measures 3ft. by 4 ft. When completed it forms a maze of a house: players trace a route through six household product danger scenes to arrive safely.
