Wastemobile

 Schedule  Directions Auburn SuperMall
What is it?

The Wastemobile travels to many communities to provide household hazardous waste disposal services for King County residents.

How to use it

Bring your household hazardous waste to the Wastemobile collection event in your area. Check the Wastemobile schedule to see when it will be in your area. See what you can bring, what NOT to bring, and how to safely transport hazardous materials and make your drop-off safer for you and the program staff.

Starting July 17, 2009, regular Wastemobile service will be available at the Auburn SuperMall on the 1st and 3rd full* (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) weekends of each month from 10 am to 5 pm. The Wastemobile will be located in Northwest corner of the mall off of SuperMall Way.*if the 1st is a Saturday, the Wastemobile will not be operating.

Limits on quantities: For the King County Wastemobile, there is a 30 gallon gasoline limit, and pre-approval is required for large quantities (over 50 gallons), containers over 5 gallons in size, and any unusual wastes. Contact the Household Hazards Line at (206) 296-4692, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., except holidays, for disposal options and procedures. NOTE: The fixed collection sites in King County have different limits on quantities.

Alternative collection sites: As an alternative to the Wastemobile, you may be able to bring your household hazardous waste to the north or south Seattle collection sites, or the Factoria Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Service site.

There is also information on what happens to the hazardous waste once it is collected at the Wastemobile or the other collection sites.

Service costs
The Wastemobile is funded through a surcharge on solid waste disposal and wastewater discharge. The average disposal cost is over $75 per participant, however residents utilizing the Wastemobile are not charged a fee on site. This cost premium underscores the importance of making waste prevention our top priority.
