Fixed Disposal Sites

There are several fixed household hazardous waste collection sites for safe disposal of hazardous waste in Seattle and King County. In addition to these three sites, the Wastemobile travels to different areas of King County throughout the year.

NOTE: none of these locations accept commercial hazardous wastes. See the Small Business Waste pages for more information about commercial waste exchange and disposal.
North Seattle

North Facility Hours

Beginning May 4, 2008, as part of a pilot project, no appointment is required.

Address:
12550 Stone Avenue North, Seattle, WA. 98133 (one block east of Aurora Avenue North and just north of North 125th Street).

Directions: Heading north on I-5 take the 130th Street exit and head west. Turn left on Stone Avenue North, one block east of Aurora Avenue North. Go south approximately 1.5 blocks and the facility is on your left.

Heading south on I-5 take the 145th Street exit and head westbound. Turn left (south) on Aurora Avenue North. Turn left on North 130th Street and turn right at the first street (Stone Avenue North). Travel approximately 1.5 blocks and the facility is on your left.

Heading north on Aurora Avenue North, take a right on North 125th Street, take the first left (Stone Avenue North) and the facility is approximately 0.5 block on your right.

Heading south on Aurora Avenue North, turn left on North 130th Street and turn right at the first street (Stone Avenue North). Travel approximately 1.5 blocks and the facility is on your left.

Quantity limits and restrictions: For the Seattle facilities and the King County Wastemobile (limits are different at the Factoria site):

  • latex paint is accepted from Seattle residents only. King County residents view the latex paint acceptance policy page
  • there is a 30 gallon gasoline limit
  • no containers can be over 5 gallons in size
  • 50 gallons (total) household hazardous waste limit per customer per day
  • no more than 10 fluorescent bulbs may be dropped off

Factoria Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Service

Factoria Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Service Hours
Tuesday - Sunday 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Quantity limits and restrictions: For the Factoria Drop-Off Service (limits are different at the Seattle facilities and Wastemobile):

  • effective Jan. 1, 2008, Factoria and the Wastemobile will not accept latex paint (read more about the latex paint acceptance policy change)
  • 30 gallons limit per customer per day (includes full or partially full containers)
  • no containers can be over 5 gallons in size
  • no more than 10 fluorescent tubes per day may be dropped off
  • no more than 5 automotive batteries per day may be dropped off
  • we cannot bulk gasoline and containers will not be returned to customers

There are no exceptions to these daily limits. We are limited in the amount of hazardous waste we can store at the Factoria facility. Occasionally, we reach the limit before the end of the day and must shut down early. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
