Disposal of Household Hazardous Waste

What are my options for getting rid of leftover hazardous products?

• See if it is hazardous:
  • See what makes a product hazardous
  • Check the Hazardous Waste Product List
  • Not sure? Call the Household Hazards Line
• If it IS hazardous:
  • Use it up
  • Bring to one of the collection facilities (Seattle - north, Seattle - south, Factoria Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Service), or to a Wastemobile event
  • Use the Industrial Materials Exchange (IMEX - generally for businesses) to exchange it with a business
  • Some household hazardous wastes have special disposal requirements (Public Health - Seattle & King County)
• If it's NOT hazardous:
  • Recycle it
    • Usable but unwanted: use the King County Online Materials Exchange (King County Solid Waste Division)
    • Use it again, Seattle (Seattle Public Utilities)
  • Disposal of non-hazardous waste
    • City of Seattle residents: Seattle Public Utilities Garbage Services
    • King County residents (outside City of Seattle): King County Solid Waste Division Garbage and Recycling Services
