Call the Business Waste Line at 206-263-8899 to find out:

  • Which of your wastes may be hazardous
  • Ways to legally dispose of the waste(s)
  • How to minimize waste in the future, and
  • What kind of paperwork you would need to complete

The Business Waste Line is open Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1-4:00 p.m., except holidays, to answer your calls. You can also e-mail us at wasteline.business@kingcounty.gov or use the contact form anytime. Please check our Web site for information before calling. You may be able to find relevant information on the site, such as disposal options, how to get financial assistance for waste management initiatives, the EnviroStars program, and our publications. You can also search the site, or check our site map.

Your business is likely to generate hazardous waste if you

  • Use dyes, paints printing inks, thinners, solvents, lubricants or cleaning fluids;
  • Use pesticides or other related chemicals
  • Use materials that dissolve metals, wood, paper or clothing (acids and caustics)
  • Use flammable materials
  • Use materials that cause the skin to burn or itch
  • Use materials that bubble or fume on contact with water, or
  • Receive products accompanied by a shipping paper or container label indicating that the product is hazardous, such as: "Caution" "Warning" "Danger"
