Easy Steps to Locate a Material or a Market for a Material
Here’s how to locate a material or a market for a material on IMEX:

  • Check the IMEX web site. The material that you are looking for or a company in need of what you have may be on the IMEX web site right now.  Browse the listings to see whether a specific material is available or whether someone is looking for it. Listings are organized by category under Wanted or Available. We do our best to alphabetize the listings, but check the entire category. For example, barrels could be listed as “55 gal barrels” or ”barrels – 55 gal”. And be sure to check out the Miscellaneous category!
  • Call us at (206) 263-8465 or if you are outside the local 206 calling area, dial 1-888-TRY-IMEX (WA only). We will search the database and find you potential users or sources of material along with their contact information.

How to Respond to a Listing in the IMEX Catalog
Most listings have a contact name, phone number, and email address so that you may directly contact the lister for more information. It is as simple as that.
When the contact is IMEX, we will pass along your request for information to the business or person who created the listing. In these cases, please call IMEX at (206) 263-8465 (1-888-879-4639 toll free within WA), send a FAX to (206) 296-3997 or email to imex@kingcounty.gov. Identify each item by the listing ID that appears immediately following the material name. Include your telephone number and any additional information that may be helpful to the company you are trying to contact, and we will relay your information to them for follow up.

Making an Exchange
All arrangements are worked out between the interested parties. The listing party will then report the exchange to IMEX. Any costs, charges, prices, etc. are negotiable.
